Prayer Letter

Peace be with the family in Christ.

The recent Russia-Ukraine conflict has deeply moved everyone's hearts, as it involves our brothers and sisters, as well as Ukrainians who have lost their homes. According to the latest estimates from the United Nations, at least 500,000 Ukrainian refugees have left the country to escape the conflict that began last week due to Russia's invasion. They are experiencing the painful separation from their loved ones, as the men have to stay behind to defend the country.

Many people are calling on tech giants to immediately take governmental action and response, while others are organizing community support and backing local humanitarian organizations to help the large number of displaced Ukrainians. Now is the time to provide widespread support to Ukrainian refugees, as there are 500,000 displaced people in the region. Volunteers from the Samaritan’s Purse organization, which is providing aid in Ukraine, estimate that nearly 100,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Poland. "It’s a constant flow of people."

In the midst of this surge of refugees, brothers and sisters from the Chinese Christian Church in Poland, moved by God, are doing small acts of service, offering their humble help to the brothers and sisters who have left Ukraine.

On the second day of the Russia-Ukraine war (March 25, 2021), brothers from the Warsaw church arranged a car to go to the border between Ukraine and Poland (since vehicles need to wait in line at the border, they had to walk for ten kilometers). They went to pick up people (three families), arriving in two batches. The first batch of eight people arrived in Warsaw at 10 PM on February 26, and the second batch of two people arrived at 11 PM on February 27. They were then settled in the homes of church members. After a few days of staying in Poland, the first group of people left the country, some going to France, others to Germany. The following is a photo of the first group taken at the home of a church member in Poland.

The church is now also hosting the second group of people. The list of names is as follows: Wu Yu, Zhao Xianzhi, Shi Yunfei, Li Zhikang, Ding Jiping, Li Shile, Yang Wanqing, Pei Yongting, Song Meixuan, Zhang Mu Yang, Kong Leyi. (Most of them are international students). The following is a photo of some of the students at a church member's home.

To better serve, the church’s board of deacons has specific task arrangements: Brother Wang Jianlong is responsible for transportation; Brother Guo Wei is responsible for arranging the GD hotel; Brother Wen Hanping is responsible for assisting students; Brother Tian Chunlei is responsible for Polish language services; Brother Gao Lianghe is responsible for daily life; Brother Li Xin (the chairman of the deacon board) and Pastor Liang Xiaoyin are the general coordinators, with Brother Huang Aimin assisting Pastor Liang Xiaoyin in the work.

At the same time, we also have some assistance through the Ukrainian branch of the Polish Baptist Church to help Ukrainian families, including a list of material needs (no quantity limit): soap; shower gel; shampoo; laundry powder; toothbrushes; facial powder; rice; tea; coffee; sugar.

Additionally, there are the basic needs of Ukrainian women and children for food and accommodation.

The Polish Chinese Church has donated 7,000 zloty to the Polish Baptist Church to support their work in receiving Ukrainian refugees. The church will continue to support the local church’s needs with materials, funds, and work to the best of its ability.

Please pray for us so that we may experience God’s wisdom and power in our service. Our prayer items are as follows:

  1. Pray that God may use each of His children to serve every person fleeing Ukraine, and that everyone we receive will feel God's love.

  2. Pray that God will grant wisdom, capability, and dedication to those serving.

  3. Pray that God will bless us as we assist refugees in finding housing and experience the Lord’s presence in our service.

  4. There are still 138 international students stranded in the Sumy region of Ukraine. We contacted one of them yesterday and learned that food and water have been secured. They are waiting for the Chinese embassy to arrange collective departure. Pray that God will help change their situation.

  5. Pray that God will help us, and may all the brothers and sisters serving be of one heart and mind to glorify the Lord’s name!

  6. The Polish Chinese Church in Warsaw will organize, coordinate, and participate in the Eastern European Union (which includes churches from 7 Eastern European countries) to pray for the work among Ukrainian refugees.
